Specifications and models

The Test Rifle
I chose the incredibly versatile 308win with the threaded 16.5â barrel and black thumbhole stock. The rifle was fitted with the Bergara ST1 brake and shot at varying distances to 200m using 180gr Barnes TTSX, Nosler 200gr Accubond reloads, and Sako Hammerhead 200gr factory ammunition.

Test Conditions
Standard European hunting to include Spot & Stalk, Ansitz (stand hunting), and range conditions firing from a bench over the period of three months.
Test Results
Although this version of the BA13 was designed to hunt suppressed, it did very well with standard hunting loads. Since the rifle was equipped with a 1:8 twist barrel I started with 200gr factory loads from Sako and achieved an average of 1-1 ½ at 100m with the then equipped optic 1-5x24 Leupold VX5HD. Iâm pretty sure the rifle would have done better had I put a slightly higher magnification scope on it. The second trip to the range brought better results when I hand loaded Barnes TTSX 180gr and 200gr Nosler Accubond bullets. It should also be noted that I changed out the optic for the 3-15x56 VX5HD for the second range trip. This time the loads averaged .75-1.0â for both the Barnes and the Nosler bullets.

(Being a short and very easy to use system the BA13 Take-Down is quite versatile)
The Bottom Line
The Bergara BA13 TD is an accurate and compact option for anyone looking for a break action single shot. This gun fits in almost any backpack broken down and wonât lose its zero when reassembled. After the weapon finish is handled, by the application of Duracoat or Cerakote, there is minimal maintenance involved in its care. The BA13TD should be at the top of the list for new hunters, or anyone looking for a great little pack gun that packs a lot of punch. I look forward to my next outing with the little BA13TD as well as expanding on the BA13 line in my weapons safe.
